Aftermath of Supreme Court Judgment..
NDC
FOCUSES
On
Electoral Promises…
Whilst
the New Patriotic Party henchmen are still gnashing their teeth about the
outcome of last Thursdays, election petition judgment by Ghana’s Supreme Court,
the ruling NDC is wasting no more time; the government has unwind and refocused
on how to achieve its electoral promises before the next general elections in
2016.
A
Deputy National Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress
(NDC), Mr. James Kofi Fonu Kpatakpa, has disclosed to The Republic that on
September 13, 2013, the President, His Excellency President John Dramani
Mahama, would be opening a policy retreat on job creation which is one of the
vital commitments the party made to the electorates prior to the 2012 elections
campaign.
Mr.
Fonu Kpatakpa, says the job-creation is one of the pillars in the National
Democratic Congress’s (NDC’s) manifesto, and the Mahama-led government is going
to hit the ground running with full concentration; especially, now that the
battle of the legendary pink-sheet is over.
“The
venue for Policy Retreat, which has myriad of issues to look at, a core of
which is how jobs and wealth could be created for the youth of Ghana, will be
announced in days.
In
an interview with The Republic in Accra, the Deputy Youth Organiser, said the
President is aware of the unemployment situation among the youth; hence, the
policy retreat for solutions as well as other related issues.
He
said Mr. John Dramani Mahama, who could be described as young President, has
the young people at heart; therefore, appointing large number of youth as
ministers and deputy ministers in his government and other areas of governance
to help project the Better Ghana Agenda.
More
youth, he said, are to be engaged through opportunities the government want to
create in the various localities, to empower the youth.
On
this score, the deputy organizer urges the youth to exercise restraint, as
plans are advanced to absorb them into jobs so that they could create money
into their pockets.
Mr.
Fonu Kpatakpa told this Reporter that though the NDC has a good case, the smart
opposition NPP, often used smart communication skills and managed to convince
their supporters that they have a case. This, he said, resulted into putting
fear into the followers of the NDC; as the leader were inundated with calls whether
it would go for or against the NDC party.
But
for the caliber of the NDC lawyers, the judgement from the Supreme Court shows
and was the true reflection of the will of the people, who voted for the NDC
and President John Mahama, he said.
The
elated NDC Deputy National Youth Organiser commended all the NDC and President
Mahama’s lawyers, for their hard-work which culminated into winning the case,
not only for the NDC, but for entire nation.
He
urged the NDC youth not to allow themselves to be provoked on the face of
jubilation. Besides, he said they should jubilate in moderation so as not to
create anxiety, or anger the peeved ones.
Kofi
Kpatakpa attributed the closure of shops, markets and offices across the
country that judgement Thursday to the massive peace campaign.
He
said shop-owners and market women just left to watch for themselves the
proceedings in their various homes; and also for the sake of peaceful
co-existence; typical of a Ghanaian.
He
was delighted Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has now accepted defeat for the
second time and congratulated President Mahama. This shows good sportsmanship,
and urged all the NPP youth to also emulate that fit from their leader.
